Stubborn body fat is one of the most difficult aesthetic flaws to address. In many cases, even regular exercise and a restricted diet are not enough to get rid of fat on the thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and other common problem areas. This is why the highly experienced Modesto / Stockton liposuction surgeon, Dr. John Silverton, performs liposuction using the most advanced techniques to precisely target problematic fat deposits. Using LipoPerfection technology, Dr. Silverton can sculpt many areas of the body with minimal postoperative discomfort.
Dr. Silverton describes and shows his preferred technique for liposuction.
The LipoPerfection® Technique
The LipoPerfection® technique represents a substantial evolution in liposuction technology. This treatment, based on the Silberg Tissue Preparation System™, incorporates ultrasonic wave technology to disperse a wetting solution into the body fat before the fat is removed. This preoperative treatment hydrates body fat, making it easier to remove, and also minimizes complications such as bleeding. Patients can benefit tremendously from liposuction with LipoPerfection® technology.
After preoperative LipoPerfection® treatment, Dr. Silverton removes fat deposits from the body using a suction syringe. Once fat has been suctioned out, the treated area is left to heal without the need for stitches.
Liposuction can be incorporated into other plastic surgery procedures. Patients undergoing procedures such as breast lift, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, and mini-tummy tuck may undergo liposuction as a part of their treatment. For the safety of his patients, Dr. Silverton is very selective about incorporating liposuction with other procedures. Dr. Silverton also avoids removing large volumes of fat at one time, as complications can arise due to the increase in anesthesia, longer surgery time, and removal of greater amounts of fluid.
Recovering from Liposuction
One of the biggest advantages of liposuction is the procedure’s relatively quick recovery period. Most of our liposuction patients are able to return to work within a few days of treatment. Some post-operative swelling is normal, but it typically fades quickly. It is important for liposuction patients to wear a compression garment for at least a few weeks after treatment. This compression garment minimizes swelling and helps the skin adjust to fit the body’s new shape.
