About Dr. Silverton
Dr. John Silverton exemplifies the fusion of artistry and medical expertise that defines a top plastic surgeon. A skilled visual artist, Dr. Silverton has been trained, educated, and employed at some of the world's finest medical institutions. Dr. Silverton's artistic ability is displayed in his oil paintings as well as in the breathtaking surgical results he consistently achieves.
Dr. Silverton is a native of England, where he attended Eton College and St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College. He trained as a plastic surgeon at the acclaimed Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, before relocating to the United States in 1975 to train at Emory University. Since that time, Dr. Silverton served as an assistant professor in the department of plastic surgery at UC Davis. He opened his private practice in Stockton in 1979. He became chief of surgery at Dameron Hospital for six years. Dr. Silverton has authored numerous publications, including scientific papers and a plastic surgery textbook.
Dr. John Silverton is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the San Joaquin County Medical Society. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is licensed by both the state of California and the United Kingdom's General Medical Council, and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Donna Haslam: Office Manager and Patient Coordinator
Donna joined us in the summer of 1999. She rapidly showed that she is an exceptionally capable and efficient person with excellent managerial skills. She became Office Manager in December 1999 and she continues to manage our entire office team.
Stephanie: Receptionist
We are very lucky and proud to welcome Stephanie to our practice. She comes to us with exceptional credentials and previously worked for 15 years at a large company as a personal assistant. Stephanie is our outstanding front office manager and receptionist. She will probably be the first person you talk to when you call our practice. She is exceptionally helpful and very friendly. Marisa: Patient Coordinator
We are proud to announce that Marisa has joined our team as our new Patient Coordinator. Marisa is already very highly skilled and has all the qualities that you will find very helpful and reassuring when thinking about a new procedure.
She is energetic, outgoing, friendly, knowledgeable and she is eager to help you and guide you in your desire to have cosmetic surgery.
Marisa will be working with Stephanie to make sure that your experience at my office is as wonderful and fulfilling as possible. We all want to help you achieve your goals!
She is available to answer your questions, offer advice, quote fees, schedule consultations and organize surgery dates.
She will also make sure your every need is properly attended to, that any tests are done in a timely manner and recorded in your medical record, and will keep in touch with you throughout the entire process.

Samuel Vescera, MD: Anesthesiologist
Dr. Vescera was previously Chief of the Department of Anesthesia at Dameron Hospital in Stockton. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesia. We proudly welcomed him to our staff in late 2001. He is still working as a team with Dr. Silverton at Trinity Plaza Surgery Center in Stockton.
Lillian Thomas, RN: Operating Room Nurse
Lillian worked for many years at hospitals in Stockton, took some time off to raise her children, and then joined us in the spring of 1999. She is a very capable and experienced recovery room nurse. She is still working as a team with Dr. Silverton at Trinity Plaza Surgery Center in Stockton.

Nicole Wong, O.R.T.: Operating Room Technician
Nicole was Dr. Silverton's private surgical technician from March 2008 until May 2009. She is still working as a team with Dr. Silverton at Trinity Plaza Surgery Center in Stockton.

Instructions for Our Patients
Like any dedicated plastic surgeon, Dr. John Silverton provides each patient with detailed pre- and post-operative instructions. It is important to follow these instructions closely in order to achieve the best possible surgical results.
Preparing for Surgery
There are a number of important steps to take when preparing for surgery. By closely following your plastic surgeon's instructions, you can set yourself up for a successful procedure and the quickest, safest, and most comfortable recovery possible. When preparing for your surgery:
- Stop smoking. Smoking slows the healing process and increases the risk of complications.
- Practice good nutrition. Eating healthy foods both before and after surgery can help you heal more quickly and feel better.
- Stop taking aspirin and ibuprofen. Medications containing aspirin and ibuprofen can thin the blood and cause excessive bleeding during and immediately after surgery. Acetaminophen is a safe alternative.
- Stop taking herbal medications and supplements. Because these products are not thoroughly tested, they can interact unexpectedly with anesthesia, which could cause life-threatening complications.
- Fill your prescriptions. Dr. Silverton typically prescribes medication during the pre-operative physical. It is important to fill these prescriptions before surgery so they will be available when you need them.
- Complete testing and lab work. Patients typically need to undergo detailed testing prior to surgery, which may include a mammogram, EKG, electrolyte testing, and a blood-clotting panel. Undergoing these tests is an important part of determining whether you are a good candidate for plastic surgery.
