truSculpt 3D: Stockton Patients’ Best Solution for Unwanted Abdominal Fat

Stubborn belly fat is one of the most common aesthetic issues faced by men and women alike. No matter how much you diet and exercise, that “spare tire” and set of love handles just won’t go away. This occurs because genetics, hormonal fluctuations, and normal aging can all contribute to the creation of diet-resistant fat, especially around the abdomen.

This situation is frustrating and embarrassing, but for many of the patients who visit our Stockton plastic surgery practice, it doesn’t warrant going under the knife. After all, a major operation like tummy tuck surgery can seem excessive if you have good skin tone and only a small to moderate amount of unwanted abdominal fat. That’s why non-surgical body contouring procedures have increased exponentially in popularity in recent years: These procedures can destroy up to 24% of the fat cells present in treated areas, creating a sleek, slender midsection.

Non-surgical body contouring procedures also offer patients a wide range of treatment options to choose from. Some of these procedures are designed to melt fat away quickly, while others provide a very gentle experience that produces results gradually over a series of treatments. Two of the procedures Dr. Silverton specializes in are capable of going one step further and achieving multiple aesthetic objectives simultaneously: Verju can reduce the size of fat deposits and smooth out cellulite, whereas truSculpt 3D is used to get rid of stubborn fat and tighten loose skin. For eligible candidates, this procedure can provide a safe, effective, and noninvasive alternative to abdominoplasty.

What is truSculpt 3D?

truSculpt 3D uses RF (radio frequency) energy to penetrate deep below the skin where it can target subcutaneous adipose tissue. The RF waves heat up abdominal fat cells, damaging them until they are no longer viable. As a result, the body excretes them via the lymphatic system and liver. The patient won’t feel this happening, of course; he or she will just notice his or her midsection shrinking over the coming weeks. The results are permanent, so the slimming patients experience following treatment generally lasts for life.

How Does truSculpt 3D Differ from Other Non-Surgical Fat Removal Procedures?

truSculpt 3D has a number of unique advantages that make it an appealing alternative to CoolSculpting and laser fat removal. The applicator used to apply RF energy is glided over the surface of the skin, making this treatment ideally suited to both large and small treatment areas. Likewise, because the applicator doesn’t use lasers or suction, this treatment is not associated with skin irritation, bruising, swelling, or pain. Patients looking for a gentler and more versatile treatment than CoolSculpting will experience a high level of satisfaction with this treatment.

truSculpt 3D may also improve the firmness of the patient’s skin, an advantage CoolSculpting does not have. The RF energy emitted by the applicator gently heats the skin and the tissues below it, stimulating the production of collagen. Over the course of about three months, this protein rebuilds damaged connective tissues and renews the cells of the epidermis, creating smoother, firmer skin. Though this treatment cannot replace tummy tuck surgery for patients with severe skin laxity or abdominal muscle damage, it can help patients with mild to moderate skin laxity achieve a taut tummy. This treatment may also reduce the visibility of stretch marks and add volume to thin, “crepey” skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for truSculpt 3D?

If you’re in good overall health and have a BMI of less than 30, you’re probably the ideal patient. This procedure can be used on all individuals, regardless of their skin type or skin color, but it is not recommended for use on heavily overweight individuals. truSculpt isn’t dangerous for overweight patients, but it won’t make a significant difference in their size or shape. This treatment is intended for use on individuals who have a healthy BMI but who struggle with localized deposits of diet-resistant fat.

You should not have truSculpt 3d applied if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant in the near future. You should also avoid this procedure if you have a cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator, medical implants in or near the treatment area, or any benign tumors in or near the treatment area.

What Should I Expect During truSculpt 3D Treatment?

truSculpt 3D will be administered via a handpiece over the course of one or two appointments. Each appointment takes just one hour or less, and you can return to your usual activities immediately afterward. You will not have to rest or follow any special aftercare instructions after having the treatment. You will, however, have to wait about 8-12 weeks to see the full results of this procedure. (This is because it takes the body a while to excrete all of the damaged fat cells.)

Treatments are not usually painful, so this treatment is perfect for pain-sensitive individuals. Most patients report feeling only a light warmth while the handpiece is being applied. In fact, receiving truSculpt 3D has been likened to getting a massage!
